BMS-301 Crystalline Waterproofing Agent (Internal Mix)
1. Product Introduction
What is BMS-301 Crystalline Waterproofing Agent?
BMS-301 is an internal-mix crystalline waterproofing agent formulated using selected Portland cement and multiple active chemical agents based on a proprietary recipe. It comes in powder form, is non-toxic and eco-friendly, and is added during the concrete mixing process. Once inside the concrete, it permanently self-heals micro-cracks, pores, and capillary tracts to reduce permeability. Even under high hydrostatic pressure, it effectively protects concrete against water ingress and environmental degradation—including chemical exposure and freeze-thaw cycles—significantly enhancing structural durability over a 60+ year service life.
How Does It Work?
Self-Healing and Waterproofing: During cement hydration, C-S-H gel and Ca(OH)₂ are generated. Unhydrated cement particles and latently reactive materials remain embedded within the matrix. When water penetrates, the active components in BMS-301 react with these materials to accelerate the formation of crystalline precipitates, which densify micro-cracks and defects through cementation, achieving both self-healing and waterproofing.
Active Component Reactivation: The active substances in BMS-301 chemically complex with free Ca²⁺ in the cement matrix, forming water-soluble, unstable calcium complexes. These complexes migrate through structural pores with water. Upon encountering unhydrated cement particles and other reactive materials, the active components are displaced, forming more stable crystals that fill cracks. The active substances then regenerate as free radicals and continue migrating through the concrete.
Continuous Cyclic Process: This process repeats continuously. Crystal formations accumulate in structural defects, gradually creating a densely cemented impermeable zone that significantly enhances the structure's waterproofing capability. When the structure is dry, the active components remain dormant due to the absence of a diffusion medium. Once water infiltrates, they are reactivated to generate new crystals.

5. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is the optimal dosage determined?
A: The recommended dosage is 0.8%-2.0% of cementitious material. For standard C30 concrete, the optimal dosage is 3-4 kg/m³. The specific dosage should be based on structural importance, thickness, environmental exposure, and construction conditions. Our technical team can assist with trial mixes.
Q: Will BMS-301 lose its self-healing capability in a dry environment?
A: No. The active components remain dormant in dry conditions. The crystallization-based repair process reactivates upon subsequent contact with moisture, enabling repeated self-healing through wet-dry cycles.
Q: Can BMS-301 be used for drinking water tanks?
A: Yes. It is made from non-toxic, harmless inorganic mineral raw materials and does not leach harmful ions, meeting the standards for materials used in drinking water projects.
Q: How does BMS-301 differ from standard crystalline waterproofing powders on the market?
A: Standard crystalline powders provide only surface-level waterproofing and lack long-term self-healing components. BMS-301 is mixed directly into the concrete and contains latent, dormant minerals that activate to repeatedly repair micro-cracks (0.05-0.4 mm) during wet-dry cycles. It also reduces chloride ion penetration and enhances corrosion resistance and durability, making it suitable for high-durability projects such as underground structures, marine engineering, and nuclear power facilities.

7. Usage Guidelines
Dosage: 0.8%-2.0% of cementitious material. For C30 concrete, 3-4 kg/m³. Adjust based on structural requirements and environmental conditions.
At Ready-Mix Plants: Add during batching; mix and load with concrete; pour and cure normally—no additional construction time required.
On-Site Application: Upon concrete truck arrival, mix product with water at 1:1 ratio until uniform, pour into the truck, rotate drum rapidly for 5-10 minutes, then pour with concrete.
