ZS High-Alkali Cement Grinding Aid
1. Product Introduction
What is ZS High-Alkali Cement Grinding Aid?
ZS High-Alkali Cement Grinding Aid is designed for cement produced from high-alkali clinker and high-alkali limestone/clay raw material systems, while also being suitable for Ordinary Portland Cement and composite cement production lines. Its formulation utilizes an alkali-resistant anti-agglomeration system combined with highly compatible alkanolamines, effectively addressing common challenges associated with high-alkali materials—such as severe mill coating, difficulty in controlling fineness, excessively rapid early setting, poor compatibility with water reducers, and suboptimal strength development that may lead to concrete cracking.
How Does It Work?
1. Physical Alkali-Resistant Dispersion: Materials with high alkali content exhibit strong surface charge activity, making them highly prone to electrostatic agglomeration and the formation of material buildup on liners and grinding media. The product's specialized dispersing components stabilize and neutralize surface charges on high-alkali particles, eliminating in-mill adhesion. This optimizes the 3-32 μm particle size distribution, increases hourly grinding output, and reduces specific grinding energy consumption.
2. Hydration Regulation for Improved Compatibility: Formulated with a low-sodium, low-potassium alkanolamine system, the product does not increase the total alkali content of the cement. It complexes free potassium and sodium ions, mitigating issues such as flash set and significant slump loss often caused by high alkali levels. Additionally, it steadily activates the hydration of clinker and supplementary cementitious materials, providing balanced strength enhancement at both 3 and 28 days while stabilizing late-stage strength development in high-alkali cement.

5. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is the optimal dosage determined?
A: The recommended range is 150g – 300g per ton of cement. Exact dosage depends on clinker alkali content, mill type, and target performance. Our technical team can assist with mill trials.
Q: Since the product is itself low-alkali, will it reduce the total alkali content of the cement?
A: The product does not introduce potassium or sodium alkali salts. It can indirectly lower the proportion of clinker per unit of cement by optimizing particle size distribution and increasing the dosage of SCMs, thereby achieving a slight reduction in the finished product's total alkali content. However, it cannot fundamentally alter the inherent alkali content of the clinker itself.
Q: High-alkali cement is prone to flash set; can this be improved by adding this product?
A: Yes. The components of the product chelate free alkali ions, mitigating the flash set caused by the rapid hydration of these ions and extending the workable time of the mortar or concrete.
Q: How does the product reduce concrete cracking area?
A: By significantly reducing the early-stage hydration rate of cement—especially the very early stage—the product lowers the heat of hydration, thereby reducing the risk of concrete cracking. It also weakens the adverse effects of alkali on C-S-H gel morphology, improving the late-stage strength of high-alkali cement and enhancing its continuous strength growth capability.
Q: How should the product be stored?
A: Store in a sealed plastic container at room temperature. Protect from freezing in winter. Do not store with high-salt or high-alkali admixtures. Shelf life: 6 months.
