1. Title

Cement Cr(VI) Compliance & Strength Enhancement — ZS-Cr(VI) Reduction Grinding Aid Industrial Trial

2. Customer Background

A cement company in Yunnan operates a ∅4.5×13.5m roller press system with triple-separation closed-circuit mill, producing P·O42.5 cement. The customer faced excessive hexavalent chromium content (12.82 ppm) exceeding the national standard limit, posing environmental compliance risks and export trade barriers. Simultaneously, they sought to increase mill productivity without adding equipment.

3. Pain Points & Challenges

Cr(VI) Exceeds Standard: Blank period Cr(VI) content of 12.82 ppm exceeded the GB 31893-2015 limit (≤10 ppm).

Environmental Compliance Pressure: Excessive Cr(VI) could lead to product returns, environmental penalties, and export restrictions.

Chromium Reduction Must Not Sacrifice Output or Strength: The solution needed to reduce Cr(VI) while maintaining or improving mill productivity and cement strength.

4. Solution

In December 2021, Shengchuan's technical team conducted a ZS-Cr(VI) Reduction Grinding Aid industrial trial on the customer's ∅4.5×13.5m roller press system. This dual-function "grinding enhancement + chromium reduction" product's core mechanism converts water-soluble hexavalent chromium to insoluble trivalent chromium through chemical reduction reactions while simultaneously providing grinding aid benefits.

Grinding Aid Model: ZS-Cement Cr(VI) Reduction Grinding Aid

Dosage: 1,800–2,000g/t

Mix Proportion: Clinker 71.5%, gypsum 6.9%, limestone 3.5%, tuff 18.1% (unchanged throughout)

Trial Method: 16h baseline period + 24h transition period + 369h continuous trial production

The trial period extended for 369 hours (approximately 15 days). Cement Cr(VI) content remained consistently below 8.78 ppm throughout with no rebound. Output and strength data also remained stable.

6. Case Summary

After adopting ZS-Cr(VI) Reduction Grinding Aid, cement Cr(VI) decreased from 12.82 ppm to 8.78 ppm (↓4.04 ppm), meeting the national standard. Simultaneously, mill output increased by 14 t/h (6.1%) and 28-day strength improved by 6.7 MPa. A single agent achieved the triple objectives of chromium compliance, output increase, and strength enhancement. The 369-hour continuous production data demonstrate stable performance, making this product suitable for general-purpose Portland cement production lines requiring Cr(VI) limit compliance.

7. Application Recommendations

Suitable Conditions: Cement production lines with Cr(VI) exceeding standards (≥10 ppm), requiring compliance with national or export standards while seeking simultaneous output and strength improvement.

Recommended Dosage: 1,800–2,000g/t.

Expected Results: Cr(VI) reduction of 30%–50%; output increase of 5%–10%; 28-day strength improvement of 5–8 MPa.
